Canadian Heritage
Indigenous Language Component
We are thrilled to announce that our partner, Anish Healing Centre has received generous support from
the Minister of Canadian Heritage, which has allowed us to secure a substantial grant
through the Indigenous Languages and Cultures Program.
This funding will enable us to provide Indigenous language programming for children and youth
over the next four years. Education and cultural foundations are essential for nurturing strong leaders and fostering healthy futures. Stay tuned for the announcement of the program dates.
We extend our deep appreciation and gratitude to the Minister of Canadian Heritage
for backing this impactful initiative and assisting us in making a positive difference
in the lives of our children, youth, and families.
The Winnipeg Foundation
Children & Youth Program Grant
We extend our sincere appreciation to The Winnipeg Foundation for their generous financial support of
the "Language Adventures" project by Akiing Onji Foundation Inc.
The funding provided by The Winnipeg Foundation was instrumental in facilitating our children's summer
Ojibwe language camp. This support enabled us to offer basic language classes and traditional teachings while
integrating land-based education, crafts, and songs. Additionally, the funding contributed to the completion
of a beautiful interactive storybook for children and covered food and transportation expenses
for our campers, who are aged 5 to 12.
Once again, thank you, Winnipeg Foundation, for your unwavering support and commitment
to fostering cultural preservation and community empowerment.
The Province of Manitoba
Orange Shirt Day Fund
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Province of Manitoba for supporting “The Color Orange” and for providing us with funding through the Orange Shirt Day fund. Your contribution significantly impacted the over 600 guests who attended our event at Pineridge Hollow. This occasion was a beautiful and meaningful evening dedicated to
genuine Truth & Reconciliation, where families, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, came together
with the shared intent of moving forward collectively.
Inspired by the vibrant sea of orange T-shirts, the breathtaking autumn sky, and the warm glow of communal fires, The Color Orange showcased an evening of Indigenous art, incorporating elements of Indigenous culture, history, stories, traditions, and life experiences. It was truly a special event.
Once again, thank you to the Province of Manitoba for supporting this unique and impactful initiative.
